Paul Slagter

After completing the studies in psychology and law at the University of Groningen I have been working for about two and a half years within the outpatient forensic psychiatry. I have gained experience in the diagnostics and treatment of clients with complex problems and various requests for help. Within the treatment I find it important to create a safe and familiar environment so we can work on recovery and growth. The first steps we have to take is to connect and take care of ‘feeling heard’. In addition, I find it important that the client retains a high degree of control over his own treatment. Working together is the key word for me. I mainly use cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR and I give treatments in Dutch and English.
