Strengthen your mental resilience
There’s a Japanese proverb: “Fall seven times, stand up eight.”
It reminds us that setbacks are part of life—and that resilience is about getting back up again. But let’s be honest: balancing studies or work, friendships, relationships, health, and maybe even living in a new country can feel overwhelming. When too many things pile up, it’s easy to lose your footing.
At Empower Psychotherapy, we’re starting a group designed to help you build resilience before mild mental health issues turn into bigger problems.
This group is a safe and supportive space to share experiences, learn practical tools, and discover how to stay mentally strong in daily life.
Practical information
Our program is based on the Pillars of Positive Health. Each week we focus on one of six themes that play an important role in your wellbeing:
• Meaningfulness and spirituality
• Quality of life
• Daily functioning
• Engagement
• Bodily functions
• Mental wellbeing
The program includes 6 sessions on Tuesday afternoon. The group consists of 4 to 8 participants and the sessions take 75 minutes each. Each week, a new topic will be discussed.
Who is it for?
This group is especially suited for international students, Dutch students, and young adults living in Groningen who want to take care of their mental wellbeing in a preventive way.
How to join
You will need a referral from your GP or POH (doctor’s assistant).
Once you have your referral, you can register through our registration form. Make sure to indicate in step 6 that you are specifically registering for the Mental Resilience group. After that, we’ll invite you for an intake to provide more information about the group, and to see if the group is a good fit for you. If not, we’ll look at alternative options together.
We ask a small contribution of €8 per session if your insurance does not fully cover the costs of mental health care. Please note that participation in the group affects your ‘eigen risico’ if you have Dutch health insurance.
